EVENTS HELD

Embedded in The Blackwood Foundation’s philosophy is the promotion of organisations who are committed to the improvement of mental health and education within Australia.  The introduction of not-for-profit organisations to other philanthropic foundations through information events, is one of the approaches that The Blackwood Foundation takes to supporting these organisations.

Eat Up Australia – 21 March 2024

The Blackwood Foundation coordinated a roundtable event for Eat Up Australia.  Eat Up provides children in need with healthy lunches.

Presentations were given by Lyndon Galea (Founder), Elise Cook (CEO), and Amanda Howe (NSW Partnership Manager).        

Top Blokes Foundation – 12 March 2022

The Blackwood Foundation facilitated a Top Blokes charity event.  Presentation’s were given by Melissa Abu-Ghazaleh (CEO and Founder of Top Blokes), Ryan (Youth Worker, Sydney) and guest speaker Sam Michael (former Technical Director, Williams F1, and former Sporting Director, McLaren F1).

Uplifting Australia - 11 March 2020

The Blackwood Foundation and The Snow Foundation joined in holding the Uplifting Australia Event. Uplifting Australia is a family wellbeing initiative which aims to prevent poor mental health outcomes for children.

Presentations were given by Garry Thomson (CEO of Uplifting Australia), Geoff Staley (Chairperson), Dr Paige Williams (University of Melbourne School of Positive Psychology), and Peter Chown (World Health Organisation).

Top Blokes Foundation – 6 November 2019

Top Blokes mission is to improve young men's health and wellbeing.

Presentations were given by Melissa Abu-Gazaleh (CEO and Founder), David Garlick (Head of Wellbeing, Sir Joseph Banks High School), and a panel of Top Blokes Youth Ambassadors.

KidsXpress - 19 September 2018

KidsXpress is one of the primary organisations in Australia dealing with childhood trauma using music, art, drama and play therapies.

Presentations were given by Margo Ward, the Founder and CEO of KidsXpress, and Andrew Fielding, Director, Educational Leadership NSW Department of Education.

APPLICATION PROCESS

1. Grant application is by way of expression of interest for funding made directly to the Executive Officer.
2. Funding is to DGR1 organisations only, as stated in the Income Tax Act 1997.
3. Organisations that have research to support their approach, or a formal strategic approach to collate evidence (data)/ outcomes, will be given priority.
4. The Executive Officer will evaluate the program and decide which organisations to present to the Board.
5. The organisation/ program goes through a selection process at the Board meetings. Applicants will be notified by the Executive Officer on whether they have been successful.
